about: Filmmaking/Directing/ Producing

a) SO YOU WANT TO MAKE A MOVIE?
ONE-DAY INTENSIVE

Summer (July/August) dates TBD

b) 4-WEEK PRODUCING & DIRECTING WORKSHOP -- GET YOUR MOVIE READY! -- DATES TBD

a) SO YOU WANT TO MAKE A MOVIE? ONE-DAY INTENSIVE: Everything you need to know about in order to make a movie! It's a "Filmmaking/Directing/Producing" intensive because the workshop touches on several aspects of the filmmaking process, including producing, pre-production and post-production -- and sales and distribution. I want you to be comfortable with knowing how the whole process of making a film works! It is a jam-packed day. You will develop more confidence in the entire filmmaking process.
Topics covered include:
• Proper "Shooting Script" format & Make Sure You Have a Strong Film Story!
• An overview of "Script Breakdown" and Budgeting/Scheduling
• Legal issues: Permits, Insurance and Releases. You will be given samples.
• Creating Storyboards, Shot Lists, determining "Coverage."
• Understanding shot choices (Master Shots, CU/MS, “Over the Shoulder” and much more)
• Working with your Art Director, Assistant Director, Wardrobe Stylists, Script Supervisor, and Editor
• Understanding how a set runs: who runs the set and responsibilities on set. ... filmmakers: don't forget craft service!
• We will view an award-winning short film to understand EXACTLY how the process from script to screen to film festivals and DVD works.
• New and Cutting Edge Financing and Distribution Models, Transmedia, Crowdfunding, including what were the hot topics at Sundance.
• An optional Field Trip to a relevant industry location.

REGARDING FIELD TRIPS. Previously, we have gone to Cineworks - Feature Film Lab and Digital Post-Production, Great Southern Studios, Anytime Rentals, Arri CSC, and to visit with Jeff Peel, Miami-Dade County Film Commissioner. With these field trips, filmmakers saw how post-production works first-hand, checked out camera, grip and lighting gear needed for production, learned about permitting and film incentives. At Great Southern, filmmakers saw the workings of a sound stage. THIS WORKSHOP'S FIELD TRIP TBD.
